Globally acclaimed restaurant and bar Hutong is launching its new Wednesday night dining event, ‘Red Lantern Evening’, weekly from 5th August. With a delicious eight-dish menu showcasing Hutong’s occasionally fiery Northern Chinese cuisine matched with free-flow drinks, Red Lantern Evening at Hutong is the go-to for after-dark escapism, perfect when so many summer travel plans are on pause.SPICE UP YOUR WEDNESDAY – FREE-FLOW RED LANTERN EVENING AT HUTONG 

According to Chinese tradition, red lanterns are hung for special occasions, welcoming guests from near and far. And at Hutong, in the prestigious DIFC, Wednesday is a cause for a special celebration with the new Red Lantern Evening, offering a menu of eight stand-out dishes priced at AED 245 per person. The dinner starts with a selection of three dishes, including the delicate but indulgent Wild Mushroom & Truffle Bao, lauded by The New York Times as amongst the best dim sum in Manhattan. Main-courses include the signature Ma La Chilli Prawns; tender but crunchy prawns in ‘lip-numbing’ Sichuan peppercorns and spices. Then comes the star of the evening, Hutong’s famous Red Lantern; crispy soft-shell crab served in a basket of fiery Sichuan red peppers – wonderfully juicy and spicy. The feast is rounded-off with the delightfully light Bao and Soy dessert.

To elevate the evening further, guests can choose to match the meal with free-flow drinks, including premium bubbles for AED 395 per person, or sparkling grape at AED 295 per person and a selection of Hutong’s house cocktails, created especially to compliment the meal. Not to be missed is the Comfortably Numb, a delicious concoction with vanilla and lychee tones served in a glass laced with spicy peppercorns; a lip-tingling sensation!

Guests arriving for the Red Lantern Evening at Hutong’s discreet location at Gate Building 6 in DIFC, with its own private drop-off and valet, pass the cascading water-feature to arrive in the plush vaulted-ceiling restaurant which brings to life the Silk Road where Chinese and Arabic cultures meet and blend. Marvel at the hand-crafted sandstone wall, inspired by the Emin Minaret in Urumqi in Xinjiang province, 30-foot-high intricately carved wood screens and centre stage the famous Hutong Wishing Tree where guests can place their own wishes. Outside is a garden terrace, perfect for laid-back evenings as fall approaches.

Instagram-friendly, seductive and sometimes surprising, Hutong’s Red Lantern Evenings are set to become the place to see and be seen post lockdown, firing up the senses and ensuring an elegantly late finish.
