Al Futtaim Education Foundation school shortlisted in the ‘Digital Technology in Learning Initiative’ category
Dubai, UAE, 15 December 2020: Deira International School (DIS) announced that it had been shortlisted in the ‘Digital Technology in Learning Initiative’ category of the prestigious International School Awards. The school, which is owned by Al Futtaim Education Foundation, is one of only three global finalists in this category. The shortlisting in its own right is a testament to the ambitious vision for learning of the Foundation and to successful strategic implementation by the DIS leadership. Deira International School, has, over the past twelve months, been recognised for its digital transformation and innovation and its use of cutting-edge teaching methods that provide an outstanding digital learning environment for students on site and for those learning remotely.
The International School Awards celebrate learning, teaching, community, wellbeing, leadership and strategic initiatives at international schools. They provide the opportunity for international schools to share best practice and creative endeavours, thus widening community participation and supporting global innovation in education. This year, and due to the impact of COVID-19 on schools worldwide, many initiatives have been developed to respond to the crisis. As a result, the judges have specifically looked for initiatives that show innovation and the potential for change through adversity. The International School Awards are hosted by ISC Research with the support of International School Leader Magazine.
Commenting on being shortlisted, Simon O’Connor, Director of Deira International School, had this to say: “I am thrilled with this recognition by such a prestigious organisation. The use of digital technology is at the forefront of education development and this highlights that Deira International School is leading the way and helping to construct the future for all students. I am enormously grateful for the hard work of all the teachers here at DIS who have seized the opportunities created by the current pandemic to continue to improve the learning opportunities for our students.”
